Failure at Trees – 06/12/22

If you ask Paramore’s Hayley Williams or Tool’s Maynard James Keenan what bands had a big influence in their lives, it is guaranteed that one of those bands would be Failure. A nugget we learned during a 30 minute video clip of Failure’s forthcoming documentary that was projected onto the wall at Trees on Sunday night.

In support of their 2021 release, Wild Type Droid, Failure made their stop in Dallas as they make their way across the country. The venue had the A/C blasting as it was expecting a sold out show for the trio. As the video was coming to its end, the band made their way out to a roar from the crowd. They dove into a 19 song long setlist that picked songs spanning their career, including tracks from their classic album Fantastic Planet. I honestly don’t know how to describe their sound. It’s layered, it’s loud, its melodic, it’s emotional…. it’s a journey. I found myself forgetting to snap my photos as I was hypnotized by the sound and lights. Failure doesn’t demand your attention at a live show, they bypass you and grab your soul. If you missed this show, make sure you grab your tickets next time. It’s definitely a must see show. ”
