Brave Combo coming to The Levitt Pavilion – 08.30.19

Everyone’s favorite Grammy-winning polka band turns the BIG 4-0!

You’ll want to be on the Levitt lawn to celebrate this fall as Brave Combo turns the Big 4-0! For all of those 40 years, there has been no other band quite like the two-time Grammy-winning Texas-based Brave Combo. The songs in their groove-infused repertoire range from revved-up Russian dirge to tripped-out Latin cha-cha and rockified old-school lounge to lowdown Tex-Mex hippie shake with a little trancey Greek circle swing to the obvious stuff, like polka, twist, samba, hora and the heaviest, most demonic Hokey Pokey ever. In Brave Combo’s world, up is down, down is up, uncool is cooler than cool, and everyone likes it that way. Perfect for dancing or listening, Brave Combo is where Jimi Hendrix and Lawrence Welk meet up with Perez Prado and The Boston Pops conducted by Screaming Jay Hawkins. Brave Combo was the first band to play at the Levitt Pavilion when it opened Oct. 10, 2008. The tradition of having them open every Fall Concert Season began that night, and 11 years later has yet to be broken.
