Today Joe Henry premieres new song and video, “In Time For Tomorrow,” watch/share HERE. Directed by Jacob Blickenstaff, the video shares the same intimacy as Henry’s recent video “3’40″” for the song “Bloom,” also directed by Blickenstaff. The track is taken from Henry’s highly anticipated new album The Gospel According To Water, set for release on November 15 via earMUSIC. Pre-order HERE.
In celebration of the new album, Henry will play Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles on November 15 with Jay Bellerose, Dave Piltch, Patrick Warren, Levon Henry, and JT Nero & Allison Russell (Birds of Chicago).
He will also appear at Big Ears Festival, March 26-29 in Knoxville, TN with Joe Henry’s 115th Dream all star line up: Jason Moran and Marc Ribot with Jay Bellerose, Dave Piltch and Levon Henry—a rare opportunity to see these collaborators together on one stage.
In a career spanning more than 30 years, four-time Grammy winner Joe Henry has left an indelible and unique imprint on American popular music. Known for his exploration of the human experience, Henry is a hyper-literate storyteller, by turns dark, devastating and hopeful.
His artist collaborations cross a variety of genres including T Bone Burnett, Ornette Coleman, and Billy Bragg with whom he was nominated for “Duo/Group of the Year” by the Americana Music Association for their collaborative album Shine A Light: Field Recordings From The Great American Railroad.
A four-time-Grammy winning producer, Henry has made albums for Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens and Solomon Burke and more, and scored films including Jesus’ Son, Knocked Up and Motherhood. In 2013, Algonquin Press published, Furious Cool: Richard Pryor and the World that Made Him, a book co-written by Joe and his brother Dave Henry.
